Employment Activation Programme

Trainers Learning Skillnet has received funding from Skillnet Ireland for training courses through the Employment Activation Programme (EAP) initiative in 2019. The EAP is a 100% government funded initiative aimed solely at training unemployed people. It provides skills which are in demand by industry, combined with direct access to employers through securing a work placement.

The network will roll out IITD Professional Practice Certificate in Training & Development & IITD Trainers Skills Certificate courses with EAP funds in 2019

All courses funded under the EAP are free for job-seekers, but will require a 5 day work placement.

The following rules apply to funding for job-seekers:
- Unemployed trainees will not be charged programme fees or any other costs associated with training participation
- Unemployed trainees cannot be paid any training-related allowance by a network, member company or referral agency eg. FÁS or Local Employment Services
- Organisations referring unemployed clients to networks eg. Solas or Local Employment Services cannot contribute funding to any network
- Interns on Tús cannot partake in EAP training as priority for these courses are for those who are not currently engaged in a labour market activation programme.
- Full list of eligibility requirements can be found here
Please note that Skillnet Ireland training programmes are part of a scheme agreed with the Department of Social Protection (DSP). An individual’s benefits and entitlements will remain unaffected by network training participation, subject to the normal social welfare rules applying.

Cost: We offer a limited number of FREE places to those who are unemployed and seeking to increase their employment prospects through up-skilling in relevant training.
Availability: The network operates a "first-come, first-served" basis for all course bookings in relation to job seeker places, but are subject to acceptance. If the course you want to attend is full you will be added to the waiting list. Preference will be given to candidates who have not already taken part in training with the network though-out the year in the interest of fairness to everyone.
Eligibility: If you are currently unemployed and fit the Skillnet Ireland definition of a job seeker (see here), you may be eligible to attend training with the network with no charge or impact on your social welfare payments or benefits.
Eligible Individuals who are not Welfare Payment Recipients: Individuals who are not in receipt of a welfare payment from DSP and whose circumstances are described here, are also eligible to participate in Skillnet Ireland training programmes free of charge, regardless of the course duration.
Ineligible Unemployed Individuals: Skillnet Ireland, under its current mandate, does not provide training to unemployed people who fall into any of the following categories, see here.
